How I pack my bags

Samstag, 10. Dezember 2016

      • man weiß genau, was man einpacken muss

NEW YORK!!!

Whenever a new vacation is approaching, we all spend time thinking about what to pack. Most of the time, we like to take our favorite pieces, the new bag or the new dress...
Even if it's unlikely, sometimes your luggage gets lost or takes a flight later than you, especially when you have a connecting flight. To be able to still enjoy your vacation, I put together 10 tips how I pack my bags to avoid bad surprises...
      • Write a check-list. I start to do it a few days before packing because it has great advantages:
        • you know exactly, what to pack
        • as you write your list during a few days, you won't Forget things that easily
        • you pack less - as you have a good overview of what you're packing, yopu rethink some items and just pack less.
        • and most important: in case your luggage is really lost, you have a list of what was inside to provide the airline for refund.

      • Don't put valuable and important things in your checked baggage. If your luggage spends some time at an Airport abroad, it is more likely that These things disappear first. And those are also the things, you'll be missing most.

      • ALWAYS take handluggage with you and pack it to be able to "survive" 2-3 days out of it. Most lost baggages appear within 24 hours, but som, etimes it takes a little longer and in this case you have the minimum you need.
      • If you are travelling with your Partner (or a friend), split the content of your luggages between the two suitcases. If one luggage doesn't arrive, at least both of you have something to wear.
      • Most Airlines ask for it, but sometimes it is forgotton: always tag your luggage with a name tag. And I mean one that doesn't go off with the minimum affection. And always put a name tag inside your luggage. If the outside tag is missing, Airlines can check the inside and assign the luggage to the right passenger.
      • If you travel to a warm and sunny place, take sun protector and after sun lotion in your hand luggage. Most Drugstores offer these in travel sizes.
      • Always lock your luggage. There could always be someone who opens your luggage and takes out some items.
      • If you're travelling to or out of the US, make sure that your luggage is locked with a TSA lock. Most new suitcases already have this lock. If not, you can just buy one to lock your suitcase. The TSA is allowed to make additional checks and if yu don't have a TSA lock, they will break your suitcase.
      • I always pack my beauty essentials such as shampoo and shower gel in a plastic bag. I already made the the experience that a bottle of shampoo opened in my suitcase. Not so funny.
      • Usually I take a pullover and a pair of socks with me in my hand luggage. It can get really cold in the aircraft and then I'm more than happy to have something to cover me.
I hope that I had some useful tipps for you. Now I'm going back to pack my luggage for my next trip. Make sure to check my Instagram to follow my trip to.... NEW YORK!
