12 hours in... Paris

Paris - meine absolute Lieblingsstadt!

Ich verbinde so viel mit dieser Stadt. Hier habe ich 2014 meinen Heiratsantrag bekommen (mit Kniefall vor dem blinkenden Eiffelturm) und 2015 auch einen der schrecklichsten Tage meines Lebens erlebt.

Aber das nimmt meiner Lieblingsstadt nicht den Glanz.

Ich versuche so oft wie möglich nach Paris zu kommen, und sei es nur für einen Tag.

Und heute möchte ich Euch ein paar Tipps geben, was man in 12 Stunden in Paris alles erleben kann!

Als ich vor einigen Wochen auf dem Weg nach Porto nachts über Paris geflogen bin und die Stadt von oben sah, überkam mich die Sehnsucht. Ich musste einfach wieder nach Paris. Und da ich noch nie zur Fashion Week dort war, wollte ich auch mal zu diesem Anlass dort hin und die Stadt in einem weiteren Licht kennen lernen.

Wenn ihr nur kurz einige Tipps lesen wollt, dann scrollt direkt runter zur Auflistung. Andernfalls möchte ich Euch zeigen, wie ich meine Tagesausflüge nach Paris (fast) immer gestalte.

Ich laufe immer sehr viel, wenn ich in Paris bin (das letzte Mal waren es 20 km!). Meistens fliegen wir nach Paris und vom Flughafen nehmen wir immer den Bus direkt an den Arc de Triomphe. Also startet hier unsere Tour.

Der Triumpfbogen - l'Arc de Triomphe - ist der Mittelpunkt des wohl größten und angsteinflößenden Kreisels, den ich kenne. Von hier aus kommt man mit der Metro so ziemlich überall hin. Die Kopfsteinpflaster des Kreisels bilden einen Stern, daher auch der Metro Stationsname Charles-de-Gaulle / Étoile.

Man kann auf den Arc de Triomphe aufsteigen - hier hat man einen super Ausblick über die ganze Stadt! Die Schlange ist hier meist nicht ganz so lange wie zum Beispiel am Eiffelturm. Und ich persönlich mag ja am meisten die Aussichtsplattformen, von denen aus man auch den Eiffelturm sieht. Die Pariser "Skyline" ohne Eiffelturm ist nicht halb so schön wie mit! Aber Achtung - es gibt hier keinen Aufzug, sondern man muss die ca. 300 Treppenstufen hoch und auch wieder runter laufen und das sieht dann so aus:

Die Aussicht entschädigt aber einiges.

Vom Arc de Triomphe laufe ich so gerne die Champs-Elysées runter, am Liebste auf der rechten Seite, da dort auch meine Lieblingsgeschäfte sind. Man braucht die Avenue runter ca. 20 - 30 Minuten. Unten, auf der rechten Seite, findet man das Grand Palais - hier gibt es das ganze Jahr über spannende Ausstellungen und Veranstaltungen. Und zweimal im Jahr verwandelt sich das Grand Palais in die Location für die Chanel Show zur Fashion Week. Einer meiner größten Träume ist es dort auch einmal dabei sein zu dürfen.

Weiter geht es zur Place de la Concorde. Vielen ist dieser Platz spätestens seit Sakrileg bekannt, denn hier verfolgt Professor Langdon die Rosenlinie. Folgt auch ihr dieser kommt ihr in den Vorgarten des Musée du Louvre, le Jardin des Tuilleries. Hier gibt es mehrere Brunnen, um die Stühle stehen, welche man kostenlos nutzen kann um kurz zu entspannen, bevor man weiter Richtung Pyramides du Louvre läuft.

Ich selbst bewundere immer wieder diese Pyramiden, da sie in ihrer modernen Bauart einen gut gelungenen Kontrast zu diesem historisch königlichem Schloss. Das Louvre ist übrigens das meistbesuchte und an der Fläche gemessen das drittgrößte Museum der Welt. Solltet ihr mal länger als nur einen Tag in Paris sein, lohnt es sich auf jeden Fall dem Louvre einen Besuch abzustatten, auch wenn man an einem Tag nicht das ganze Museum besuchen kann.

Von hier aus gibt es für mich immer zwei mögliche nächste Ziele: entweder man steigt in die Metro ein und fahrt Richtung Sacré Coeur, oder aber man läuft noch ein wenig weiter und über die Seine zur berühmten Kathedrale Notre Dame.

Wenn ihr zu Notre Dame lauft, empfehle ich Euch, an der Sein unten lang zu laufen, auch so typisch Paris. Hier muss ich immer an den Film Ratatouille denken, denn die kleine Maus Rémy läuft hier auch immer wieder auf und ab.

Angekommen an der Kathedrale muss man meist länger anstehen, um rein gehen zu können. Daher besuche ich meistens nur den Vorplatz und schau mir die erstaunliche Architektur und die Wasserspeier an. Und jedes Mal, wenn die Glocke läutet, stelle ich mir vor, wie Quasimodo im Glockenturm steht und die Glocke läutet (ich merke gerade, dass ich fast jede Ecke von Paris mit einem Film verbinde ;-))

Meine Empfehlung wäre hier dann jedoch der andere Weg: mit der Metro zur Haltestelle Anvers. Über die Stufen geht es hoch zu Sacré Coeur. Hier ist mein zweiter und zudem auch noch kostenloser Lieblingsaussichtspunkt in Paris. Die Aussicht ist atemberaubend. Zudem findet man auf den Treppenstufen viele Künstler und Musiker. Allgemein die Gegend rund um Sacré Coeur, Montmartre, ist ein künstlerisches Viertel, typisch französisch. Kleine süße Straßen, bunte (auch rosa) Häuschen, überall Straßenkünstler - eines meiner Lieblingsviertel. 

Von hier aus geht es weiter an meinen absoluten Lieblingsplatz auf der ganzen Welt- dem Trocadéro, der Platz vor dem Eiffelturm. Ich sitze am Liebsten auf den Stufen unten und schaue über die Fontänen hinweg den Eiffelturm an - und das am Liebsten STUNDENLANG! Hier habe ich auch meinen Antrag bekommen und hier bin ich einfach glücklich. Übrigens auch eine super schöne Fotolocation, da man etwas erhöht auf den Eiffelturm schaut. (Metro Haltestelle Trocadéro)

Unterhalb des Trocadéro ist auch das berühmt Karussell. Hier werden Erwachsene auch wieder zu Kindern. Eine Fahrt kostet für einen Erwachsenen 2,50 €.

Wenn man Zeit hat, sollte man auf jeden Fall auch auf den Eiffelturm gehen. Die Aussicht ist atemberaubend! Ich schaue mir den Eiffelturm lieber von außen an. Sobald es dunkel wird (im Sommer ab 22 Uhr, im Winter ab 21 Uhr) blinkt der Eiffelturm zu jeder vollen Stunde für einige Minuten. Was schöneres gibt es nicht.

Hier endet mein Tagestrip meistens und von hier geht es dann zurück an den Flughafen oder den Bahnhof.

Sehenswürdigkeiten:

• Eiffelturm (Haltestelle Bir-Harkeim oder Trocadéro)
• Arc de Triomphe (Haltestelle Charles de Gaulle/ Ètoile) - super Aussicht über die Stadt, allerdings muss man hier einige Stufen laufen.
• Sacré Coeur (Haltestelle Anvers) - wunderschöne Kathedrale mit wunderschönem Ausblick über die ganze Stadt. Der daran grenzende Stadtteil Montmartre besteht aus kleinen Straßen mit bunten Häusern. Schönes künstlerisches Viertel.
• Tour Montparnasse (Haltestelle Montparnasse) - auf den Turm kann man bei gutem Wetter hinaufsteigen und hat auch hier einen super Ausblick über die ganze Stadt.
• Musée du Louvre (Haltestelle Palais Royal/Musee du Louvre) - neben der Mona Lisa gibt es hier noch so viel mehr zu sehen. Allerdings schafft man an einem Tag nicht mal die Hälfte. Daher am Besten vorher einen Plan erstellen, was man unbedingt sehen möchte.

Essen:

• Wer ein leckeres Steak mit Blick auf den Eiffelturm essen möchte, ist im 6 New York genau richtig.  
• Der für mich leckerste Italiener in bester Lage ist Pizza Pino direkt auf der Champs-Elysées. Die Preise sind hier ebenfalls super, wenn man bedenkt, wo man sich befindet.
• Ebenfalls unweit der Champs-Elysées gibt es das leckere portugiesische Restaurant Pedra-Alta. Hier kann man ebenfalls leckere Fleisch, aber auch super leckere Fisch-Gerichte essen.
• Gute Burger kann man im Paris New York essen.
• Ein weiterer guter Italiener ist das Capri Saint-Honoré.
• Natürlich darf ein Besuch bei Angelina und Ladurée in Paris nicht fehlen.
• Ich würde Euch aber auch immer empfehlen, die Augen offen zu halten. Es gibt überall kleine typische französische Bistros, in denen man ebenfalls gut essen kann.

Shopping:

• Die Galeries Lafayette am Boulevard Haussmann: hier findet man nicht nur die meisten Luxusmarken, sondern auch "normale" Brands. Und die Kuppel im Inneren ist einfach wunderschön!
• Das Printemps ist direkt neben den Galeries Lafayette und ebenfalls ein höherklassigeres Einkaufszentrum. Aber es ist eher bekannt für seine Dachterrasse, die als eine der schönsten Dachterrassen Paris gilt.
• Auf der Champs-Elysées findet ihr neben Louis Vuitton und Ladurée auch Geschäfte wie H&M, Zara, Abercrombie & Fitch, Zadig & Voltaire, Sephora und und und...
• Ich habe mir meinen Traum von meiner ersten Chanel auch direkt im wunderschönen Chanel Store in der Rue Cambon erfüllt. Dort ist auch die berühmte Treppe zu Cocos Atelier. Auch wenn man nichts kaufen möchte, ist die Boutique einen Besuch wert.
• Ebenfalls finde ich den Louis Vuitton Store auf der Champs-Elysées immer wieder beeindruckend. Der Laden ist so groß und alles ist gold!

Unterkunft:

Mein absolutes Lieblingshotel in Paris ist das Princesse Caroline. Die Lage ist perfekt für einen Städtetrip, zentral gelegen zwischen Arc de Triomphe und Champs-Elysées. Das Frühstücksbuffet hier lässt ebenfalls keine Wünsche offen, Die Metro-Anbindung ist ebenfalls gut, da man in nur 3 Gehminuten an der Haltestelle Charles-de-Gaulle/ Étoile ist.

Öffentliche Verkehrsmittel:

• Wenn ihr die eine oder andere Strecke doch mal mit der Metro zurück legen wollt, lohnt sich ab 10 Fahrten eine Metro 10 er Karte.
• Es gibt einige Haltestellen, an denen man sich abends vor allem als Frau nicht zu lange alleine aufhalten sollte. Informiert Euch am Besten vorher, wie die Gegend ist, in der ihr wohnt.
• Vom Flughafen in die Stadt kostet das Taxi ca. 50 €. Eine billigere Alternative ist entweder der RER, der an die Gare de l'Est fährt, oder, wie wir das immer machen, den Bus nehmen. Hin - und Rückfahrt kostet hier pro Erwachsenen 34 €.
• In der Stadt kann man sich auch mal ein Taxi nehmen. Diese sind nicht ganz so teuer, wie in manchen deutschen Städten.

Allgemeine Tipps:

• Achtet immer auf Eure Taschen, vor allem in der Metro, und da vor allem, wenn diese voll sind. Einmal kurz angerempelt und schon ist das Handy oder Portemonnaie weg.
• Rund um die Champs-Elysées, Place de la Concorde und Musée du Louvre werdet ihr oft angesprochen und nach Eurer Unterschrift gefragt. Bitte hier immer direkt weiter gehen. Das sind meistens Gruppen, die sich ihre Opfer bereits vorher aussuchen. Während ihr dann angesprochen (und abgelenkt) werdet, kommen die anderen aus der Gruppe und entwenden Euch etwas.
• Ebenfalls achtsam sollte man im Jardin des Tuilleries sein. Hier gibt es ebenfalls viele Gruppen, die sich unbemerkt annähern und sich das nehmen, was sie wollen.
• Auf den Stufen zu Sacré Coeur gibt es nette Herren, die euch ein kleines Freundschaftsbändchen anbinden - natürlich umsonst. Wenn ihr dann aber geht, ohne trotzdem was zu geben, werden diese immer sehr unangenehm. Auch hier am Besten einfach ignorieren und weiter gehen.

Paris - my favorite City!

This city means so much to me. 2014, my husband proposed here and in 2015, I lived one of the most horrible days of my life in Paris.

But this does not take away the beauty of this city.

I try to visit Paris as often as possible, even if it's just for one day.
And today I want to share with you what you can do in Paris in 12 hours!

As I was flying over Paris on my way to Porto a few weeks ago and saw the City from above, I missed this city so much, we decided to take a day trip a few days later. And as there was Fashion week and I never been there during this period of time, I wanted to get to know a new side of Paris.

I listed you the most important things below, so you can just scroll down and only read the short Version.

So, here is what I (mostly) do on one day in Paris.

I always walk a lot while I'm there, last time we walked incredible 20 km! Mostly, we fly from Frankfurt to Paris and take the Bus to the Arc de Triomphe. So here is where our tour begins.

The Arc the Triomphe is right in the middle of one of the biggest and scariest traffic circles I know. The Metro connection is pretty good from here. The pavement aroind the traffic circle forms a star, that's why the Metro station is called Charles-de-Gaulle/ Ètoile.

You can go up the Arc de Triomphe, where yopu have a beautiful view all over Paris. The queue is generally not that long, and I prefer observations plattforms from which you actually can see the Eiffel Tower - Paris' skyline is not half as beautiful without it.

But - there is no lift, so you will have to walk the 300 stairs up and also downstairs. You can see above how this looks. But the view is beautiful.

From here, my way usually leads down the Champs-Elysées, on the right side. This is where my favorite boutiques are. It takes a 20-30 Minute walk down the Avenue until you reach the Grand Palais on the right side. This beautiful location hosts several interesing exhibitions and Events throughout the year. And twice a year, the Grand Palais turns into the location for the Chanel Fashion Show. One of my biggest dreams is to attend this show once in my lifetime.

This year I met beautiful Paola from Blank Itinerary in front of the Grand Palais, one of my favorite Blogger. She is sooo cute and nice!

We continue to the Place de la Concorde. You might know this place from the Sakrileg movie, where Professor Langdon walks down the roseline here. If you follow this golden line, it will lead you to the garden of the Louvre Museum, the Jardin des Tuilleries. I love to sit around the fountains and to relax before heading to the famous Pyramides by the Louvre.

I always admire the architecture of These modern pyramides next to the historical building of the Museum. The Louvre is actually the most visited and the third largest Museum in the world. If you have the Chance to stay longer than just one day in Paris, make sure to visit this beutiful museum, knowing that you can't see evrything in just one day.

From here, you can take two different routes: you can walk to Notre Dame de Paris or take the Metro to Sacré Coeur.

If you walk to Notre Dame, walk by the river Seine, so typically parisian. Everytime I walk here I think of little Rémy from Ratatouille, who also used to walk here.

When you reach Notre Dame, you have to queue to get in. This is why I usually just sit outside and look at the gargoyles and the beautiful architecture. Ans everytime the bell sounds, I imagine Quasimodo pulling the bell in the bell tower (well, a lot of spots in Paris remind me of movies ;-)).

I suggest not ot go to Notre Dame, but to take the Metro to Anvers. By getting up the stairs, you reach Sacré Coeur, another beautiful cathedral and another beautiful observation platform. The view is breathtaking. The whole district Montmartre is beautiful and artistic with a lot of street artists and beautiful painted houses.

Now we continue to my favorite place in the world - the Trocadéro, the place in front of the Eiffel Tower. I love to sit here for hours and watch this beautiful Tower. It was right here my husband proposed so this place has a special meaning to me. Also a beautiful fotolocation, as you can see the whole Eiffel Tower.

Right down the Trocadéro is the famous carroussel where adults become children again. A ride is 2,50 €.

If you have time, you should definately go up the Eiffel Tower. This view is incredible. But I prefer the view on the Eiffel Tower. And as it turns dark, the Eiffel Tower starts to twinkle every full hour! This is where my trip always ends.

And here is what you should do.

Sights:

• Eiffel Tower (Metro station Bir-Harkeim or Trocadéro)
• Arc de Triomphe (Metro station Charles-de-Gaulle/Étoile) - beautiful view over the city, but you have to take some steps.
• Sacré Coeur (Metro station Anvers) - beautiful cathedral with a beautiful view all over the city. The artistical Montmartre district in general is worth a visit.
• Tour Montparnasse (Metro station Montparnasse) - you have e beautufl view over the city. Observation Plattform only open if the weather is good.)
• Musée du Louvre (Metro station Palais Royal/Musée du Louvre)- besides Mona Lisa, there is a lot more to see. But you won't be able to visit the whole Museum in just one day. So make sure to plan your trip.

Food:

• If you want to enjoy a good Steak with a view on the Eiffel Tower, make sure to visit 6 New York.
• For me, the italian Restaurant in best Location is Pizza Pino on the Champs-Elysées. The Prices are good if you think of where you are.
• also near Champs-Elysées is the portuguese Restaurant Pedra Alta. Here you get good meat and delicous fish.
• For good burgers go to Paris New York.
• And another good italian is the Capri Saint-Honoré.
• A visit to Angelina and Laduree are a MUST when you're in Paris.
• But also be attentive when you walk trough Paris. There are a lot of beautiful small Bistrots everywhere.

Shopping:

• The Galeries Lafayette on the Boulevard Haussmann: you can't only find all the luxurious Labels, but also "normal" brands. And the cupola inside is beautiful!
• right next to the Galeries Lafayette is Printemps whith one of the most amazing rooftops you can access in Paris.
• On the Champs-Elysées is nearly everything you can wish for: Louis Vuitton, Ladurée but also Labels like Zara, H&M, Abercrombie & Fitch, Zadig & Voltaire, Sephora ...
• For my first Chanel bag, I had do go to the beautiful Boutique on 31 Rue Cambon. This Boutique is legendary as Coco Chanel herself worked here. Even if you don't plan to buy anything, the Boutique is worth a visit.
• The Louis Vuitton Boutique on Champs-Elysées is also beautiful - very big and very gold!

Accomodation:

My favorite Hotel in Paris is Princesse Caroline. It is perfectly situated between Arc de Triomphe and Champs-Elysées. The breakfast has everything you wish for and the Metro station Charles-de-Gaulle Étoile is just a 3 Minute Walking distance away.

Public transports:

• If you plan in taking the Metro several times, it might be good to take a 10 tickets at one. You can save some money.
• There are some Metro station, a woman shouldn't hang out alone, especially in the evening. So before booking a Hotel, make sure that the environment is good.
• A taxi from the Airport to the city costs about 50 €. A less expensive alternative is the RER, which drives you to Gare de l'Est. We prefer to take the bus. A round trip ticket is 34 € per adult.

Useful Information:

• Please always be careful with your bags especially in the Metro. If it's full, a wallet disapears within sseconds.
• Around the Champs-Elysées, the Place de la Concorde and the Louvre you might adressed by people asking for a signature. Please, be careful and always continue walking. In General, those People are organized in Groups. While one is talking (and distracting) to you, the other tries to take away something out of your bag.
• On the stairsto Sacré Coeur there are often Groups of peolple trying to tie a little bracelet around your wrist, for free. But, if you don't give them anything, they get unfriednly. So the best is just to ignore them as well.
